Meet The Service Unit Coordinators: Pat Hall
What year did you become involved/take on your current role in your Service Unit? I think I have been SU manager and other team positions since around 1984-85, maybe before.
What area does your Service Unit cover (you can include a list of the Troops who participate in your Service Unit). Our SU is all of Choctaw County with Daisy troop #8250, Brownie troop #8129, Junior troop #8379.
When and where does your Service Unit meet? Monday of each month at 5:30 at our Girl Scout Green House in Butler. We do not meet in June or July.
What is your favorite type of GS activity (STEM, Outdoor, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills) I am not partial to any one type of activity. All GS events and activities promote our mission when planned well with the girls in mind.
What is your Service Unit known for? Our SU is very functional and although there probably isn’t a “claim to fame” the SU operates tremendously well as a team, putting on a SU event each month to enhance the GS experience. We do at least one flag retirement ceremony a year for the community.
What achievement are you most proud of when it comes to Girl Scouts? I have received the Thanks Badge Two and the Volunteer of the Year Award. Neither of these would be possible without our strong team of adult volunteers in our area. They make it easy to lead.
What is your favorite memory with Girl Scouts, either as a girl member, a Troop Coordinator, or in a Service Unit role? As a girl Girl Scout, my favorite memory would have to be attending the last International Roundup in Idaho with other girls in a patrol of 8. Leading up to this special selective event along with 9,000 other girls from around the world, was special as well with interviews, practice, and preparation for this 12-day camping event. As a troop leader, my favorite memory was when my daughter received her Gold Award and became a Lifetime Girl Scout member.
