Meet The Service Unit Coordinators: Allison Marlow
What year did you become involved/take on your current role in your Service Unit? 2021
What area does your Service Unit cover (you can include a list of the Troops who participate in your Service Unit). The southern part of Baldwin County, from Foley to the Gulf of Mexico.
When and where does your Service Unit meet? We are a small service unit so we stay in contact via text and email.
What is your favorite type of GS activity (STEM, Outdoor, Entrepreneurship, Life Skills) Personally, I enjoy traveling with my troop because that type of adventure incorporates a lot of areas including outdoor, stem, entrepreneurship. and life skills.
What do you look forward to the most in your role with the Service Unit? I would like to see us get a service unit event off the ground.
What achievement are you most proud of when it comes to Girl Scouts? That my girls want to continue coming to our events even after they've passed the typical "age out" phase. They enjoy Girl Scouts.
What is your favorite memory with Girl Scouts, either as a girl member, a Troop Coordinator, or in a Service Unit role? I took my troop in Hawaii camping at the aquarium. The top of the aquarium was open and the glass was about 12 feet high. They pushed their sleeping bags right up to where the sharks were hanging out. We learned about 2 a.m. that sharks are nocturnal because they were at the top of the tank splashing water out and onto us. We were soaked but it was pretty great fun. I also really enjoyed taking my troop to Savannah last year and watching them learn to surf. So many of the girls who were afraid to try stood up on the board and rode the waves in. I was super proud.
