The Safe Sitter babysitting curriculum is designed exclusively for young teens in grades 6 - 8, and covers the following areas: safety skills, childcare skills, first aid & rescue skills, and life & business skills. Safe Sitter babysitting courses are instructor-led and interactive with hands-on demonstrations and skills practice using soft-bodied dolls and medical manikins. Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who's choking and helpful information like what to do if there's severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Cadettes will meet the requirements to earn the Babysitter Badge, but it is NOT included with training. The badge can be purchased from a GSSA shop in person or online.
*This is a drop-off event for Cadettes. Girl Scouts will be supervised and instructed by the staff of Auburn University's College of Nursing. A designated waiting room is available for parents that stay.
